Preacher: what is this series from the creator of The Boys that is a hit on Netflix? />

It’s a very nice move made by Netflix. Since September 30, the streaming platform has been broadcasting the series Preacher, inspired by the comics by Garth Ennis, the creator of The Boys.

Since its arrival, this gem, which was previously offered to OCS subscribers, has attracted a very large audience and is already in fourth position among the most viewed programs on the service in France. There is plenty to do with its four seasons and forty episodes to savor without moderation.

What is it about?

Preacher< /em>follows a reverend, Jesse Custer. The man of the Church, who lives in a peaceful town, ends up losing his faith. At the same time, his followers also deserted. The rest of the synopsis sets the tone for this irreverent series:

But he will soon have proof that God does indeed exist. And that”HE” is one hell of a son of… With his girlfriend Tulip and a vampire named Cassidy, he sets off on the American roads to find him…

A careful adaptation of the Comics

We will have understood, this AMC production hits where it hurts. It targets at the heart and through satire a major and divisive theme: religion in America.

To carry out the script adaptation, we find in particular Craig Rosenberg (already present on The Boys), but also Hollywood troublemakers Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen who need no introduction.

On the casting side, we don't shy away from our pleasure either. And if no very big name in the seventh art is mentioned, we are dealing with very solid stuff. This is the case for Domicic Cooper (Mamma Mia!) and Ruth Negga (Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). We also note the presence of Joseph Gilgun (Misfits), or even Ruth Negga (Clair-Obscur) and Ian Colletti (Blue Bloods ).

Had you ever heard of (or seen) Preacher before it aired on Netflix? If so, don't hesitate to tell us about it in the comments.

At the moment, Netflix is taking care of its subscribers and offering some attractive nuggets. This is the case with the One Piece and Chère Petite series which we spoke to you about previously. In France, it is the biopic dedicated to Bernard Tapie that is making headlines. We really liked this original creation, in particular thanks to the excellent performance of actor Laurent Lafitte. You can also reread our guaranteed spoiler-free review here.
