In Manitoba, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are still looking for “one or more suspects” after an attack that left two people injured in The Pas.

In a news release, RCMP say officers responded to Edwards Avenue near West 3rd Street shortly before 4 p.m. Friday after receiving a report that' ;#x27;a stabbing attack had taken place.

No other reports of violence was not received, notes the RCMP. When this incident occurred, many people were in the surrounding area.

According to police, two people were seriously injured. The RCMP also specifies that one or more suspects are still at large.

People are nervous, says the Pas Mayor Andre Murphy, adding that investigators said they had two persons of interest in custody and their investigation was still ongoing.

CBC was unable to confirm this information, but has requested comment from the RCMP.

On Friday evening, the federal police called, in a press release, residents to be vigilant after the stabbing on Friday afternoon.

Mr. Murphy believes this incident highlights the needs for public safety, mental health care and substance abuse support in his community.

Northern Manitoba really needs these supports closer to home, he argues.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact The Pas RCMP at 204-627-6204. It is also possible to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or on its website (in English). (New window)
