Now the market leader in robot vacuum cleaners, Roborock continues its march forward to retain its title. With the Qrevo range, the Chinese offers washing worthy of the best on the market for a reasonable price.

The Qrevo MaxV, the most high-end of its mid-range, is priced at 899 euros. Although it costs less than the S range products, it has most of their cutting-edge technologies.

Does Roborock deliver on a premium experience at a reasonable price?? Response after several weeks of testing the Qrevo MaxV.

The Qrevo MaxV incorporates the aesthetic codes of all of the brand's vacuum cleaners. All in white, it is made of solid matte plastic, a Reactive AI camera (in place of the Reactive Tech laser) on the front and all the technology necessary for mapping on its upper part.

On the cleaning side, the Qrevo MaxV inherits two rotating mops, one of which can be moved (FlexiArm design) to clean edges and corners. A central roller and a rotating side brush take care of the suction. The dirt is housed in a small 330 ml container. It's not much, but the robot comes with a charging and maintenance station.

The latter is made up of three tanks: one for clean water (4 liters), one for dirty water (3.5 liters) and one for vacuumed materials (2.7 liters).Despite this comprehensive equipment, it remains very compact (much more than the S8 range) and discreet in any furniture.

Roborock has understood that the user, caught in the whirlwind of laziness, wants to limit his interventions as much as possible. The Qrevo MaxV station therefore includes most of the maintenance functionalities of the 2023 models and incorporates a few small new features.

The base of the robot is divided into three parts: a 4 liter clean water tank, a 3.5 liter waste water tank and, below, a recovery of vacuumed materials. At each wash, the station fills the 80 ml water tank of the robot which returns to it as soon as necessary to continue its work.

Once cleaning is finished, the station collects the dust from the suction bin and keeps it in the bag in the lower bin. Roborock invites us to change this bag (to be purchased, no additional collector being provided) approximately every 7 weeks, with a more or less significant margin depending on the cleaning frequency.

Then, the base washes the mops in hot water (60°C). This new feature of the Qrevo MaxV allows you to renew them less often the mops and eliminate bacteria more quickly. A new sensor also makes it possible to carry out several washes when the wastewater is too dirty.

Depending on the cleaning frequency and the dirtiness of the home, brushes, mops and sensors must also undergo a little maintenance. As a precaution, we recommend removing hair, pet hair and other small dirt stuck in the mechanical elements of the device every month. If we forget, the robot indicates when the brushes are stuck anyway and invites us to wash them to continue cleaning.

Like the brand's other robots, maintenance of the Qrevo MaxV is therefore very simple, practical and not restrictive. Everything you want from a robot mop.

On paper, the Qrevo MaxV has a more powerful suction system than the 2023 model (7,000 Pa compared to 6,000 Pa). In fact, he doesn't seem much more efficient, but we can't blame him for that.

Indeed, the Qrevo was already very convincing in terms of suction. With 95 to 98% of waste vacuumed, the Qrevo MaxV achieves almost perfection. Animal hair, rugs, carpets, tiles, parquet, nothing resists it. Thanks to its ability to raise itself (up to 10 mm), it is even formidable on woven surfaces.

Where are the missing 2 to 5% ? On long pile carpets, that mode “tatis boost” fails to clean perfectly. Fortunately, Roborock allows you to schedule another pass on these difficult surfaces.

What about washing ? FlexiArm technology allows the robot to deport one of the two rotating mops (200 revolutions/minute) outwards. Roborock partly addresses the main problem with robot vacuum cleaners: cleaning along walls and around objects. “Partially” because it is limited to only one passage which often proves insufficient.

The application allows you to choose from 30 water flow levels in order to optimize efficiency and autonomy.Although it is durable (we will come back to this), the Qrevo MaxV obtains uneven results in terms of cleaning. In vacuum-wash mode, it is impossible to remove stubborn stains even with the Deep+ mode which multiplies the passages. On the other hand, for daily maintenance, the Qrevo MaxV is a reliable companion.

It is even more so as it inherits Reactive AI, navigation and recognition technology of obstaclesfrom the brand's high-end models. Thanks to a camera, the robot perfectly detects objects in its path and therefore adapts its cleaning.

If object recognition is impressive, this should not prevent you from putting away whatever is lying on the ground before launching the beast. Cables remain the worst enemies of robot vacuum cleaners, so it happens that the Qrevo MaxV gets stuck in them. Much more rarely than with competitors, but it still happens. Same with very small objects like Lego: the robot sometimes drags them around a little before detecting them and then avoiding them.

Finally, the Qrevo MaxV automatically identifies the surfaces not to be cleaned. On a carpet for example, it lifts its mop and switches to mode suction only.

After its infancy, Roborock quickly understood that the companion application and the mapping of a robot vacuum cleaner were among the users' selection criteria. Over the years, the brand has refined its app to reach a level of maturity that is found almost nowhere else.

So, the Roborock application (available on iOS and Android) allows you to remotely configure and control the robot vacuum cleaner. After a disconcertingly simple installation, the app allows you to map the environment in order to to optimize cleaning. In a few minutes, the washing surface, walls and obstacles are identified.

The user can then choose from a series of cleaning modes (total, by room, manual demarcations, etc.) or let the software do it automatically. It then chooses the best parameters according to the surfaces: suction and cleaning power (on 4 levels), water flow (on 30 levels) and many others.

If a room or piece of furniture is moved, the application automatically reviews the map. Thanks to the integrated camera, it is also possible to observe obstacles that could or would have prevented the robot cleaner from accomplishing its task. Last but not least, the Qrevo MaxV can identify pets and pause automatically as soon as it comes across one, so as not to frighten these little ones hairballs.

Finally, the camera can also act as a surveillance device that can be manipulated remotely.

Like the brand's other robots, the Qrevo MaxV is compatible with several voice assistants: Google Assistant, Alexa and Rocky, her home assistant.

The application interface is clear, simple and highly customizable. For example, we can give a name to each room to ask the voice to clean a specific room. If you're going to be idle, you might as well go all out.

With its 5 200 mAh battery (the same as the Qrevo), this MaxV version can clean a total area of 150 m2 in just over 3 hoursin standard mode and 1h30 in Max+ mode (the most powerful). An excellent performance which is close to that of the Qrevo, although less powerful.

To gain autonomy, you can choose to deactivate carpet washing or opt for a more economical cleaning mode. But the efficiency is logically reduced.

This very good autonomy is accompanied by a rapid charging system. The Qrevo MaxV increases by 20% (it always keeps a reserve to return to base) 100% in less than 3 hours. Here again, Roborock performs well, with most competitors crossing the 4-hour recharge mark.

With the QRevo MaxV, Roborock achieves almost flawless results. Elegant, discreet and silent, the most high-end of its mid-range robots is efficient, durable and very intelligent. Mapping, navigation and easy maintenance are also among its strengths.

Despite everything, Roborock does not yet have its perfect robot vacuum cleaner. The Qrevo MaxV still gets its rollers caught in the cables and its mop FlexiArm still lacks effectiveness.

The fact remains that the Qrevo Max stands out as the best value for money at the moment. We can only recommend it.
