This second half of 2024, Samsung will organize a new Unpacked event, to present its latest developments. Normally, this event will allow the manufacturer to present its new folding smartphones. And it should also take the opportunity to finally market the Galaxy Ring connected ring. Additionally, Samsung is expected to launch new smartwatches as well. And indeed, some rumors are already circulating about the next Galaxy Watches. For example, some sources suggest that the manufacturer should offer a “Fan Edition” or FE version of the next generation of connected watches. As a reminder, Samsung's Fan Edition products are affordable versions of its premium products.

In a recently published article, the My Smart Price site relays pages from Samsung's official sites in the United Kingdom and Latin America which could confirm the existence of the Galaxy Watch FE. These pages do not yet contain any information, but they are dedicated pages for a product with model number SM-R861. However, previous rumors indicate that this is the number of the future Galaxy Watch FE.The latter could be a smartwatch whose technical specifications will be subject to some concessions to lower costs. As a result, the Galaxy Watch FE could be an alternative to the Apple Watch SE. Some media also indicate that the technical specifications of the Galaxy Watch FE could be close to those of the Galaxy Watch 4.

A competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra in the pipeline ?

In addition to this affordable smartwatch, Samsung could also offer an “Ultra” version, which would compete with the Apple Watch Ultra. Among the advantages of this Ultra watch, there could be a more advanced screen technology. Indeed, sources suggest that the Galaxy Watch Ultra could have a Micro LED screen, while the standard model would have an OLED screen.

But, as usual, as long as this information on future Samsung products is not official, caution remains in order. In any case, we already know that the manufacturer should rely heavily on AI (as it did with its latest high-end smartphones) to promote its connected watches. A few days ago, Samsung announced the integration of “Galaxy AI” on connected watches.

On this form factor, AI will allow Samsung to offer better support in monitoring the user's health and well-being. Samsung will integrate new Galaxy AI-based features into compatible smartwatches via the One UI 6 Watch update. And in the meantime, this update is already beta tested on “a limited number” of Galaxy Watches.

  • The Galaxy Watch FE has already been rumored for a while and the existence of this model is reportedly confirmed by a page on Samsung's website that was recently spotted by the media

  • As it did with smartphones , Samsung will rely heavily on AI to improve the experience on its connected watches
