The Pizzeria Moretti Griffintown restaurant was targeted by Gunshots.

Gunshots were heard during the night from Friday to Saturday near Wellington and Peel streets in downtown Montreal.

According to information from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), the incident occurred at 4:20 a.m. The authorities received several calls to 911.

Upon their arrival, the police discovered the window of the Pizzeria Moretti Griffintown restaurant, on Wellington Street, smashed. They found shell casings on the ground. There are no injuries.

According to Véronique Dubuc, of the SPVM, one or more suspects fled on foot. They have not been located at this time.

The police established a security perimeter on Wellington Street, between Robert-Bourassa and Peel.

The police set up a security perimeter. Wellington Street is closed between Robert-Bourassa and Peel for an indefinite period. Traffic is not expected to be affected.

Investigators and forensic identification technicians are expected to attend the scene to analyze the crime scene during next few hours.

The motives behind this gesture are currently unknown.
