The 3-Body Problem (Netflix): why this daring series will hit?” />

© Netflix

This should be one of the highlights of next year on Netflix. On March 21, 2024, the series The 3-Body Problem will be released. Behind this rather atypical science fiction project comprising 8 episodes, we find the creators of Game of ThronesDavid Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The opportunity for us to tell you everything you need to know about this original creation, and why it has a good chance of success.

What is the story of the series?

The 3-Body Problem is based on the book of the same name released in 2014 and written by Liu Cixin. The synopsis is quite stimulating and intriguing:

In 1960s China, a young woman makes a disastrous decision whose repercussions across time and space will affect a group of brilliant researchers in today's world. As the laws of nature are disrupted before their eyes, five former colleagues reunite to face the worst danger ever to threaten humanity.

Netflix promises us “an epic story that redefines sci-fi drama with its complex mysteries and genre-bending stakes”. Far from pure entertainment, we are therefore announcing a story based on hyperrealism, and based on hard sciences in an attempt to show what an encounter with a form of extraterrestrial intelligence could look like.

A casting incredible and big names

In addition to the two creators of Game of Thrones, we find big names in production including Rian Johnson, but also Brad's Plan B Entertainment companies Pitt and Primitive Streak by Rosamund Pike.

On the casting side, we are also dealing with very solid work with a trio of actors seen in Game of Thrones: Liam Cunningham, John Bradley, Jonathan Pryce. Alongside them, Alex Sharp (The Chicago Seven), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), and Jovan Adepo (Fences em>), and Sea Shimooka (Arrow).

A hit in sight for Netflix?

Of course, it's always difficult to anticipate the successes of the streaming platform. Moreover, certain original creations that we did not expect at all manage to stand out. However, with its ambitious and stimulating story, its solid cast, and the big names who support it, this series clearly stands out from the ordinary.

The public does not seem to understand it. deceive. The first teaser of this original creation revealed 4 months ago already has more than 11 million views in its English version.
