The new Polar Grit X2 Pro has arrived, Apple and Garmin are having problems ?

With the new Grit X2 Pro, Polar wants to appeal to athletes and adventurers. If this market is already largely dominated by two American players, Garmin and Apple, Polar hopes, like its northern neighbor Suunto, to succeed in finding a place there. To achieve this, the brand offers high-end products, which have nothing to envy of the very popular Watch Ultra 2 from the Apple brand.

Polar defends himself with his weapons

In an attempt to compete with Apple in the sports arena, particularly outdoors, the Scandinavian brand has not sought to reinvent itself. Polar thus takes up the recipe that made the success of the first generation, released in 2021, as well as the Vantage V3, a mid-range watch very popular in the small world of trails.

In order to appeal to this audience of connoisseurs, Polar offers a dual frequency GPS system, with a modified antenna, offering more power. The brand also offers training monitoring with great precision. The brand notably offers a calculation of the average ascent speed over 30 seconds, very important data for cyclists in order to know their ideal pace on climbs.

Autonomy and screen: the strong points

In addition to these sensors, Polar offers record autonomy on its new Grit X2 Pro. The watch is thus capable of operating for 10 days according to the manufacturer. The latter specifies that use in mode “eco drive” will be possible for 140 hours , while the “performance training” mode will only work for it 43 hours.

To achieve such figures, Polar did not limit itself on the’ screen by choosing a 1.39-inch AMOLED panel, it's 15% larger than the previous generation. This new diameter makes it possible to display widgets or key information more clearly during training, a real plus compared to the first generation, which suffered from a screen that was too small and poorly lit.

Another detail which is very important, on this new Grit X2 Pro, the watch displays military standards. Polar announces that it has passed the certification tests for the 810H standard. This corresponds in particular to optimal operation up to 100 meters below the surface. The watch is also capable of operating over a wide temperature range, up to 49°C.

Price and availability

Polar's Grit X2 Pro is already available for pre-order on the Finnish brand's website. Sales will officially begin on Tuesday, April 2. The watch is sold €749.90by the firm in its “classic” version. It is available in two colors, “Night Black” and “Stone-Gray”.

A special edition in titanium has also been put on the market, it costs €869.90. It comes with two different straps, one in leather and the other in black silicone. Polar also offers on its site a combo watch “classic” & H10 heart rate belt for €799.90.
