Elon Musk has made many changes to X, formerly Twitter, since buying the platform. And among the new features, there is improved monetization for creators. Indeed, as on YouTube, certain creators who meet the eligibility criteria can receive a share of the advertising revenue generated through their publications. But despite these efforts, monetization on X still does not rival that offered by YouTube.
At least that's what YouTube's richest creator, Mr Beast, says. Although he does not seem to have any problems with the old Twitter, it refuses to publish his videos on this platform, for financial reasons.
When Mr Beat says no to Elon Musk
On December 30, Mr Beast posted on X to announce the upload of his new YouTube video, and to invite his followers to go watch this one. A person then responded by asking Mr Beast to upload the video to X, in addition to posting it on YouTube. And this was encouraged by a response from Elon Musk.
In reaction, the richest YouTuber replied: “My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on really launched!”
My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it :/
I’m down though to test stuff once monetization is really cranking!

In other words, according to Mr Beast, monetization on the old Twitter is not yet sufficient for the platform to interest major creators. And, as mentioned above, Mr Beast is not one of the creators or influencers who have a problem with X, or with Elon Musk. In his bio, he even claims to be the “official super CEO” of X.
X needs creators
However, like other platforms, X needs to attract creators to have quality content, especially since it also wants to establish itself among the main Internet video platforms.
In September, the real CEO of X, Linda Yaccarino, announced that the platform had already paid a total of $20 million to creators.
Create. Connect. Collect all on X. We’re enabling the economic success of new segments like creators. And so far we've paid out almost $20 million to our creator community. https://t.co/kk137uPkAo

Monetization on X can satisfy people who previously earned nothing from their publications. But it's clear that to attract creators like Mr Beast, the social network will have to make an extra effort.
- X allows you to generate income in different ways and even offers creators the opportunity to receive a share of advertising revenue
- But for the moment, despite these efforts, the platform is not attractive enough for big creators like Mr Beast (the richest YouTuber, according to Forbes magazine)
- Mr Beast said his videos cost millions to make and even with a billion views on 62~
