Two men were rushed to a hospital after being seriously injured in a road accident that occurred late Saturday afternoon in Saint-Pie, in Montérégie. In the evening, the authorities feared for the life of one of the two victims.

A first accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Route 235, reports Catherine Bernard, responsible for media relations for the Sûreté du Québec.

People would have gone to meet the driver to help him, when another vehicle would have left the road in the same place, hitting the driver and another man who were in the shoulder, said the spokesperson.

Both suffered serious injuries.

Since the accident, Route 235 has been closed in both directions.

Un patrol officer specializing in collision investigations went to the site to try to clarify the circumstances of these accidents.

Weather conditions and difficult road conditions could be the cause of the collision that sent the 18- and 32-year-old men to hospital, says Ms. Bernard.
