Note to collectors, a new 0 euro note will be marketed in France within a few weeks. And it is not just a piece of paper, but a real commemoration of the landing in Normandy and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of France in 1944 which is proposed here.

Of course, these 0 euro notes have no legal value, but they are made with the same care and using the same process as that used for the bank notes we use every day. Oberthur Fiduciaire is responsible for their production and Euro Banknote Memory is responsible for their marketing.

If you are not familiar with this universe, you should know that these 0 euro notes were introduced in 2015, and that their popularity is growing among collectors. Today there are 2,500 of them in nearly 30 different countries and some of them have increased enormously in value. Hobbyists don't necessarily make it about money and sometimes simply enjoy owning these objects filled with a story or a particular reference.
To cite just one example, the Caen town hall has marketed 0 euro notes which “are all unique, each with its own serial number”, reported our colleagues from Liberté – Le Bonhomme libre last August. The operation worked very well, since 2000 units of this ticket sold for two euros had been sold in a little over a year. Among the buyers, tourists, but also collectors who ask for specific serial numbers.
