Autonomy is one of the most important criteria to consider when purchasing a new smartphone. Unfortunately, in recent years, the technologies used by the mobile industry have changed little. Therefore, to improve autonomy, some brands do not hesitate to increase the autonomy of certain models by placing batteries with XXL dimensions.
These are atypical smartphones, with monstrous battery life, but unusual dimensions. And among the brands present in this niche, there is Energizer, which is operated by Avenir Telecom. In 2019, it created a buzz at the Mobile World Congress, by presenting a smartphone with a gigantic 18,000 mAh battery.
This is a 28000mAh battery priced at €249.99.
And yeah, there's a phone in there.
Meet the Energizer Hard Case P28K.

And this year, Avenir and its Energizer brand are once again taking advantage of this tech show to lift the veil on a model equipped with a 28,000 mAh battery: the Hard Box P28K. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery. And the Google Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050 mAh battery. The Hard Case P28K therefore has a huge battery, by industry standards. But, according to an article from The Verge, this battery would allow the device to have a week of autonomy in normal use. And in standby, the device would be able to last… 94 days.
XXL thickness and modest characteristics
The battery and its robust design (IP69 waterproof) are the only real advantages of this smartphone. Due to the size of the battery, the Hard Case P28K has a thickness of 27.8 mm and a weight of 570 g.

The technical sheet is also quite modest. Indeed, the device would not have 5G, according to The Verge. And this uses a MediaTek MT6789 chip which runs Android 14.
The LCD type screen has a diagonal of 6.78 inches and a 1080p resolution. The RAM memory is 8 GB, while the storage is 256 GB. On the other hand, the price is attractive. In fact, Avenir Telecom plans to sell this smartphone at 249.99 euros in October.
In any case, it's always interesting to see how some brands try to stand out from the crowd, while other devices sometimes tend to all look the same.
