Everything but youstands out as a fresh romantic comedy, even if it does not revolutionize the genre. Natalie Portman plays a famous actress who, to prepare for her new role, comes to meet the couple who ignited the tabloid press 20 years ago. With May December, Todd Haynes (Far from Heaven ; I'm not there) wants to disturb the spectators. The press gives it an average rating of 3.7 out of 5, calling it a captivating and masterful drama.
Released on January 17, La Tête Froideis the film to catch up on this weekend. Here we are, immersed in the snowy Alps, in the middle of winter. Marie is 45 years old and struggles to make ends meet. With her lover Alex, a border policeman, she makes ends meet by trafficking cartons of cigarettes between France and Italy. But when she helps a young refugee, Souleymane, Marie finds herself caught in a vicious circle despite herself.
The Cold Head is the first feature-length fiction film by Stépharne Marchetti, who has until now specialized in documentaries. For the role of Marie, Florence Loiret Caille won the Best Actress Award at the 2023 Sarlat Film Festival. With a poignant and gripping plot, the film boasts remarkably good actors.
