A man is in critical condition, but “out of danger”, after being stabbed with a knife on Saturday evening. The armed attack allegedly occurred in an apartment in the Saint-Michel district of Montreal.

Around 10:40 p.m., a call was made to 9-1-1 for a man who was allegedly stabbed inside an apartment located on Charland Avenue, near Iberville Street.

Upon arriving on scene, officers located a 55-year-old man who had been stabbed at least once in the upper body. He was transported to a hospital center where his condition is considered critical, indicated Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

It would be a conflict which degenerated inside the apartment which led to the armed attack. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim at least once with a bladed weapon in the upper body, said Officer Brabant.

After gathering information from witnesses to the event, a 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He will be questioned by investigators over the next few hours.

Avenue Charland has been reopened and the investigation continues.< /p>
