Danny Sanders, a teacher from Valcourt, was arrested Wednesday for sexual offenses. The 47-year-old man appeared Thursday morning at the Sherbrooke courthouse. He faces two counts of sexual assault and sexual interference of a person under the age of 16.

The man works at the Sommets School Service Center, which also indicated in a press release that the teacher in question was suspended from his duties following events that occurred between a member of the staff of a school from the Sommets School Service Center and a student.

On the City of Valcourt website, it is indicated that Danny Sanders is head coach at the Valcourt Youth Cross-Country Ski Club and that he is a physical education teacher at La Chanterelle school, also in Valcourt.

Danny Sanders, a teacher from Valcourt, was arrested Wednesday for crimes of a sexual nature.

The case is currently being handled by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the people concerned are being taken into care. Support measures will be deployed according to needs, it is announced.

The Sommets School Service Center explains that it will not comment on this subject.

The suspect was released on conditions following his appearance on Thursday. His case will return to court on March 8, 2024.
