“I can tell you that within 5 to 10 years, no one will be using apps’ #8221;. Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges is full of praise for this experimental smartphone presented by his company at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona.

The German company is therefore offering this concept of telephone which is entirely based on AI and does not integrate any application. It is therefore supposed to respond to requests from Internet users without these tools taking effect.

A disruptive concept

The system will work like a concierge who “understands your objectives and occupies details”, announces the company. In detail, the operator explains that users will only have to submit a certain number of requests to the AI integrated into this phone. He cites the example of suggestions for trips, food, or even a product to buy.

Another use case, once the photo has been taken, you can ask your phone to send the image to your friends via voice command.

To design this smartphone, Deutsche Telekom teamed up with Qualcomm and the company Brain.AI. The latter already offers an iOS application which has the same functionalities of this phone. Looking at the comments on the App Store, however, the public doesn't really seem convinced.

The German company is in any case very proud of the result. She explains it in a press release released for the occasion:

Deutsche Telekom invites MWC visitors to discover the future of AI in mobile technology on its stand. As the company sets new standards and pushes the boundaries of innovation, Deutsche Telekom remains committed to reliability, privacy and security to deliver the best customer experience in # 8217;IA.

There is no guarantee that the latter will see the light of day, and we have already seen many concepts that seemed promising end up in drawers. What do you think of this idea presented by Deutsche Telekom ? Tell us in the comments.

In the meantime, you can follow Mobile World Congress live with us. Our journalists keep this live throughout the event, and we also publish longer articles linked to this major event.

What to remember:

  • Deutsche Telekom presented a telephone atypical at MWC
  • It works without application thanks to AI
  • Nothing indicates that it is is really the smartphone of the future
