The end of year holidays are approaching and, with them, the difficult choice of Christmas gifts. To make things easier for Santa Claus, Amazon has published, like every year, its selection of its 10 best toys.
Adapting to the crisis
Aware that the inflationary crisis affects millions of households, the company has opted for toys that meet the most modest budgets. Of the 10 products selected (for all ages), five cost less than 30 euros, four less than 50 euros and only one toy is priced at more than 100 euros.
To build its selection, Amazon analyzed purchasing trends on its platform based on several criteria: price, of course, but also brands, categories, product types and location (each country has a different selection).
Above all, Amazon wanted the toys chosen to all have an average of 4 stars and above on its rating system.
Construction and nostalgia on the program
Among the toys selected, we observe several trends. “By analyzing the trends on our platform, we noticed a great return of parents' childhood products” told us an executive from Amazon France.
Indeed, among the ten toys in the 2023 selection, Furby and Barbie (which is making a comeback with the release of the film) will undoubtedly bring back some childhood memories to parents.
Like every year, construction toys win the day. Lego, Playmobil and even Vtech represent more than a third of the selection.
Finally, Amazon wanted to highlight French brands. The top 10 toys from this end of year includes the Magneti'Book, an educational game created by the company Janod, certified Climate Pledge Friendly (eco-responsible label). The board game Dixit, from the Asmodee brand, and the remote-controlled car Exost-360 complete this blue, white, red trio.
