Batman (Netflix): 3 good reasons to (re)watch the legendary animated series ;e

If you grew up in the 90s, there's a very good chance that you're familiar with the Batman animated series by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Eric Radomski. Since this week, Netflix has been offering the first season of this animated series. At the time, we didn't skimp on resources, since it still included 65 episodes. If you are still hesitant, we give you three good reasons to give it a try.

More than a simple adaptation

Batman The animated Serie was therefore released in 1992. This original creation revisited the original material in depth, and even made it possible to create certain characters who have since become iconic. We think in particular of Harley Quinn who subsequently came to life in live-action in the guise of Margot Robbie.

The series also finds its own graphic style. It's quite dark, but not as dark as Matt Reeves' latest version. It is closer to the Tim Burton films released just before, but without completely copying it. Its creators were therefore able to impose their mark and influence the universe of the dark knight.

And how can we not mention the original soundtrack by Shirley Walker, which remains engraved in our memories, even years later.

High-flying dubbing

Whatever your choices, and whether you opt for the VO or the VF, you will be served. Richard Darbois did a very good job playing Batman and Bruce Wayne in the French version, while Kevin Conroy did his job perfectly for the original version.

However, we will prefer the latter during the episodes with the Joker. Indeed, the latter is voiced by Mark Hamill who excels. As for the many other characters, including the secondary ones, the actors also took their task seriously. We thus think of Philippe Peythieu, known for his dubbing of Homer Simpson.

The series has barely aged

When we rewatch these episodes, which are already thirty years, the experience remains very pleasant, and we can see to what extent the studio had hit the mark. At the time, this original creation had also been rewarded by several Emmy Awards, but also by the Annie Award for best series, our colleagues at Allociné rightly point out. p>

The public, who discovers or rediscovers this work, is not mistaken. Batman The animated Serie thus obtains a rating of 9.4 out of 10 on Metacritic and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. As for the French-speaking public, they give it 3.4 out of 4 out of 5 on Allociné.

For your part, do you intend to see or rewatch this series on Netflix? Tell us in the comments.
