The Galaxy S24 Ultra is once again this year the worthy heir to the Samsung Note range, with its look which differs a little from the rest of the range and its integrated sheath to store the S-Pen with which it is totally compatible – with a secret weapon: Galaxy AI, Samsung's new set of generative tools fully integrated into the experience.

The iPhone 15 and especially the Pro models are the most advanced Apple smartphones available to date. The latter evolve the design introduced on the iPhone 12, and adopt a brushed titanium finish, with a rounder edge, and new colors which mark a little less fingerprints (at least on the edge, in comparison with steel finish).
For the rest, the Pro models are those which have everything that Apple has most premium to offer. We thus find the most powerful chip of the moment, A17 Pro (engraved in 3 nm). They have a USB type C port (finally), and the Pro models are the only ones able to benefit from the bandwidth allowed by the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard (up to 10 GB) – ideal for transferring, for example, video rushes in Apple ProRAW format to the computer.
In addition to the difference in screen size (respectively 6.1″ and 6.7″) there are also small differences that may make customers opt for the Pro Max model. This is the case for the photo part. If we find on paper the same triple sensor 48 Mp + 12 Mp + 12 MP + LiDAR, the Pro Max model is the only one to offer a periscope telephoto lens allowing 5x enlargements without losses, all with 3D stabilization “ sensor shift” and OIS.

We no longer present the Google Pixel range, which for many are simply the best smartphones in mobile photography. This year again, with the Pixel 8, Google is doing a tour de force, with a new in-house Google Tensor G3 chip, a better set of photo sensors, and still a “pure” benefiting in advance from all the latest software innovations developed by Google.
Between the standard model and the Pro model, it's above all, at first glance, a matter of format with on one side a 6.2″ quite compact, and on the other a 6.7″ which has a footprint comparable to that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
On the photo side, the standard model offers a dual sensor 50 Mp + 12 Mp (ultra wide angle) which is already very versatile. But it's the Pro model that shines the most in this area with a triple sensor 50 Mp + 48 Mp + 48 Mp including a telephoto lens allowing optical enlargements up to 5x.

You are toying with the idea of buying a Galaxy Fold5 from Samsung? What if we told you that OnePlus has a product which, at least on paper, is a better proposition out of several points ? The internal screen, with LPTO3 technology, offers a diagonal of 7.82″ against 7.6″ Samsung side. Same thing for the cover screen which is 6.31″ at OnePlus against 6.2″ at Samsung.
OnePlus offers, like its big competitor, a Sapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, and a single storage and RAM option: 512 GB (UFS 4.0) and 16 GB of RAM. On the Fold5, the 512 GB of storage is optional and you must count on a maximum of 12 GB of RAM.
On the photo side, Oneplus has a triple main photo sensor 48 + 64 + 48 Mp (compared to 50 + 10 + 12 Mp at Samsung). The selfie sensors are not left out since OnePlus offers 20 Mp on the largest screen (compared to only 4 Mp on the Fold5 side) – and a beautiful 32 Mp on the cover (compared to 10 Mp on its competitor). However, it is less resistant to water and dust (IPx4 compared to IPx8 for Samsung's latest Fold) – a point not necessarily to be overlooked. Especially since OnePlus has less experience with the interface on this type of product than Samsung.

If you are looking for a large format foldable smartphone, the reflex is to at least try the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5… but also the Honor Magic V2. The Chinese brand, a former subsidiary of Huawei, has made a significant move upmarket since American sanctions almost completely blocked the former parent company's access to Western markets.
Today Honor offers particularly well finished and high-end products – with a price that reflects this level of requirement. The Honor Magic V2 is therefore a product that compares very favorably to its competitors. The device offers a main screen of 7.92″ 120 Hz ultra bright (1600 nits) – supplemented by an external borderless 6.43″ screen, also 120 Hz.
On the photo side, we have a triple 50 + 20 + 50 Mp sensor including a 2.5x optical telephoto lens. The selfie sensor, also very well made, is 16 Mp. On the Fold5 we are rather on a 50 + 10 + 12 Mp set and a selfie sensor (under the screen) of only 4 Mp.
But that's not all: the device has a particularly capable 5,000 mAh battery, all with 66W fast charging.

In our opinion the Galaxy Z Flip5 is the most interesting formula in foldable smartphones. Because this model proves to be very compact on a daily basis (the external screen is 3.2″), while letting you benefit from a 6.7″ as soon as you open it.
We're talking about a powerful device that runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, all associated with 8 GB of RAM and ultra-fast UFS 4.0 storage. As for the photo sensors, we have a dual main sensor 12 Mp + 12 Mp.
The selfie sensor offers 10 Mp. Autonomy is ensured by a rather generous 3 700 mAh battery given the very advanced technology contained in the casing.
L’cheaper alternative essential in 2024

After a first test, the Nothing brand is back with a second smartphone, called Nothing Phone(2). We find the same transparent design and the fully configurable Glyphs light alert system.
But also a slightly larger screen (6.7″ versus 6.55″), a significantly more premium chip (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 versus Snapdragon 778G+ a year earlier ), more RAM (up to 12 GB) and still the same photo part (50 + 50 Mp) with the exception of the selfie sensor which goes from 16 Mp to 32 Mp.
Beyond that it has a slightly more capable 4 700 mAh battery, with 45W wired fast charging which allows you to reach 100% in 55 minutes.

While we are talking to you above about the most premium Google 8 and 8 Pro that the brand is offering this year, other models are of course still worth a look in 2024 This is the case with the Google Pixel 7a. These run on a Google Tensor G2 (5nm) chip considered high-end.
They offer a magnificent 6.1″ with a 90 Hz refresh rate. They also offer fast transfers (USB 3.2) through their USB type C port and are equipped with a fairly decent 4 385 mAh battery considering that the smartphone is quite small energy consuming.
