Following the market trend where motorists want ever more imposing cars, BMW is trying to approach young parents by offering an SUV with the size ;sporty and modern look.

Let's return together to the proposition of the German brand that we had the opportunity to try recently.

En giving it a coupe look of course. The iX2is a beautiful baby with its imposing size of 4.55 meters long and 1.84 meters wide.

Still, #8217; 8217;with its sleek lines and coupe-like appearance gives it a resolutely modern look, with a massive front that quickly tapers off at the rear. BMW has decided to give a strong identity to its SUV which therefore stands out from the rest of electric vehicles, which in terms of design tend to have a lot of similarities.

There's no denying it, the iX2 really looks great, and has its effect when we discover this one, especially in its “Fire Red” color, and with its optics giving it a rather aggressive look.

BMW has always accustomed us to elaborate and elegant interiors, the iX2 here is no exception to the rule. If we didn't like the color of the seats on our test model, fortunately there are many customization options. Here, we take pleasure in discovering the interior of the vehicle, which is visually very successful. However, it is not free from defects in its practicality. We are thinking in particular of the central storage elements which are difficult to access because of the armrest.

The most annoying point here is < strong>the placement of the induction charging support dedicated to the smartphone. Placed so that the smartphone is in an upright position, it has been fitted with a plastic arm to hold the device in the event of strong acceleration. The plastic element is clearly not practical, and does not really do justice to the equipment that the German brand usually offers.

Finally, we will particularly appreciate its comfortable seats while by keeping the passengers in place, allowing you to enjoy some sporty sensations at the wheel.

We're not going to lie, despite its coupe-like appearance, the BMW iX2 remains an SUV intended for family use. The version we tested was the iX2 xDrive30 with 313 horsepower, which still gives a good margin of maneuver for parents in a hurry who should promptly bring their children at school.

Proposing the 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds with one engine per train, we can imagine a rather playful machine despite its 2095 kilos empty. The ride is rather firm as one would expect from a vehicle with sporty DNA. The roll is admirably well controlled and overall, the iX2 is an excellent compromise between comfort and sportiness.

Difficult to say that with such an imposing vehicle we would probably like go on vacation, the autonomy is relatively low. Indeed, the BM SUV has sporty ambitions and as such, the autonomy is somewhat reduced.

So during our car test for which we traveled 222 kilometers, we left with a 100% charged battery which gave us an estimate allowing us to travel 355 kilometers. With a rather controlled average consumption of 17.2 kWh/100 km, we actually had 137 kilometers of autonomy left on arrival .

Thus, we denote here a propensity for the vehicle to be used closer to home than it seems. Fortunately, the brand promises a charging speed of 10 to 80% in 29 minutes, which is still fast enough for a maximum charging power of 130 kW.

One of BMW's strengths also comes through its interface system iDrive, arranged on its beautiful 10.7-inch touch screen. Already updated with version 9.0, the OS had already won us over during our test of the i5 here. This time, iDrive becomes even more customizable.

We will appreciate the possibility of deactivating the audible warning when the speed limit is exceeded. speed at the simple press of a configurable button on the steering wheel for example. As intuitive as ever, the iX2 therefore benefits from the latest new features of the OS here.

The promise of BMW's offer of an SUV with a sporty ambition is fulfilled here. From 46 900 euros in its 204 horsepower version or 59 150 euros for the 313 horsepower version, the iX2 impresses with its “sporty SUV” appearance with an exterior design particularly successful and an interior that is also successful.

Obviously, the ride is rather firm, even if comfort remains present on board. Just as with its observed autonomy which is less than 400 km, the German brand's SUV will rather be used as a family car which will offer good driving pleasure to parents.
