Tick tock tick tock. Time is passing, and we are fast approaching the release of Dune 2 in theaters. It is in fact on February 28 that the continuation of the epic saga will be released in French cinemas. In the meantime, Denis Villeneuve gives interviews where he talks about this new production.
The Puppeteers of the Universe
He notably made some comments on the Bene Gesserit, a mysterious group of women who influence political and religious decisions in this saga. It will also be the subject of a spin-off series which will be broadcast on the Max streaming platform.
The filmmaker explains:
My version of Dune is different because what really appealed to me about the book were the Bene Gesserit. My adaptation is more oriented towards their impact – They are the puppet masters of the universe!
And precisely, besides Rebecca Ferguson who is dying screen in the role Lady Jessica Atreides, Paul's mother, a newcomer joins the group in the person of French actress Léa Seydoux. She will play Lady Margot, the wife of Count Hasimir Fenring. In his novel, Frank Herbert describes her as having a perfect figure, light golden hair and gray-green eyes.
Denis Villeneuve promises a spectacle< /h2>
In addition to the Bene Gesserit, Denis Villeneuve previously promised us something heavy for Dune 2. He underlines: “We went to new places. I didn't want a feeling of repetition. These are new settings. Everything is new.”
And the director of Prisoners to add: « The first part is a more contemplative film. The second part is an action, epic and war film. It is much denser. » Finally, note that a romance is announced between Paul (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya).
