One person died in a fire that occurred Friday evening in Sherbrooke. The call for help was made at 9:43 p.m. for flames coming out of a triplex located at 73, rue Kennedy Nord. The investigation was transferred to the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) Arriving on site, firefighters noted widespread conflagration. As soon as they were able to get inside, they found a person who was clearly dead, explains the division head of the Sherbrooke Fire Protection Department, Martin Primeau. Around 11:15 p.m., the fire was close to being contained. The damage was significant according to Mr. Primeau, but neighboring residences were able to be protected. No one else was at the scene. We don't know if the triplex was inhabited, said the division head. According to initial observations, the fire started on the second floor. A total of 25 firefighters battled the flames. An investigation of the Sherbrooke Police Department is underway. The coroner's office will also look into the circumstances that led to this fire.
The fire caused one victim.
