A 28-year-old man is Toronto's first homicide victim of the year, police say.

The Toronto Police Service says they responded to a call at a home at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Baycrest Avenue a little after 8 a.m. last Tuesday.

The man's body was found in a room of the apartment and showed signs of violence. A woman was also found dead in the same place.

The police suspect the latter of being responsible for the murder of the man and his own death.

They claim that the two people knew each other, but did not communicated the nature of this relationship.
