Google I/O 2024: date, program, how to watch, everything you need to know

It's almost time for big announcements from Google. The annual Google I/O conference was originally mainly focused on the company's software announcements. However, it is also very often an opportunity for the firm to present new hardware products.

Google has shown intense activity in recent months, particularly around AI. We have seen the firm make most of its Gemini wide language models available to the public – most of which are intended to be executed locally. If you don't know what it is yet, Gemini is, in a way, the equivalent of OpenIA's GPT models.

These are optimized for the devices on which they are intended. Enough to enable more secure generative AI, particularly on smartphones – since at the moment, many competing models require round trips to the cloud.

When will Google hold its Google I/O 2024 conference ?

The precise date of the Google I/O conference 2024 is already known. We know that the event will be held over two days, May 14 and 15, 2024 – in the firm's Shoreline Amphitheater on its Mountain View campus.

The event will be broadcast live on YouTube – developers who wish can also register on this page, to benefit from small bonuses such as on-demand sessions.

Beyond streaming, which will be, as usual, exclusively English-speaking, Presse-citron and other sites of the Keleops group will offer detailed articles on the main announcements, as well as a liveblog in French &#8211 ; enough to allow our readers to always stay one step ahead!

The most interesting conference will undoubtedly be held on March 14, 2024, at 6 p.m. (Paris).

What is the program for Google I/O 2024 ?

Google, like its Big Tech competitors, likes to keep secret until the last moment (or almost) about the announcements it is about to reveal. The only thing Google reveals, so far, is this mention on the event invitation: “learn -learn about the latest developer tools and see how they drive innovation and improve your workflow to maximize productivity.

So we're still hungry for the moment. However, we can guess that there will be a lot of talk about AI and Gemini. Our colleagues at ZDNet suggest that a new LLM model could be unveiled on this occasion. In terms of hardware announcements, it's a safe bet, based on the model of previous years, that a new smartphone will be unveiled.

Everything indicates that we will discover a device called, barring any last minute surprises, “Pixel 8A”. Surprises are also possible, but little information has filtered through so far.

  • The date of Google I/O 2024 is now known: the event will be held on March 14, 2024 in Mountain View (California).
  • The opportunity for Google to presumably talk about AI, but also about its latest iteration in the Pixel A series.
  • Latest surprises minute are still possible.
