Durham police have launched a homicide investigation after the discovery of the inert body of a woman in a home on Saturday evening in Whitby, east of Toronto.

Police were called to a home on Kressman Court, in the area of ​​Taunton and Rossland, around 9 p.m.

A woman was found inside the home without vital signs, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was taken into custody in connection with the woman's death.

This is an isolated event and there is no threat to public safety, said by email Sergeant Joanne Bortoluss of Durham Regional Police.
