As the Olympic Games approach, a secure key locker system could well appeal to Parisians looking to share their accommodation (hello Airbnb!).

Since the end of 2022, RATP has offered residents of the capital the opportunity to leave their keys in secure lockers located in certain metro stations in the capital to facilitate their sharing. This initiative aims to make daily life easier for users by allowing them to access the service even without a transport ticket, as the company explains in a press release taken up by our colleagues at Actu.fr .

A locker to store keys

The operation of this service is ultra basic: the user reserves a locker in one of the 5 RATP stations which offer this service via Monkey Locky, the company behind ;#8217;origin of the concept. A secret code is then transmitted to the person of their choice so that they can retrieve the contents of the locker.

This system offers a convenient solution for secure key exchanges – whether for family, friends, students, roommates or even for the loan or rental of an apartment. This tip could prove particularly useful during this summer's Olympics, a period when many Parisians are considering renting or subletting their homes.

To use a locker provided by RAPT and Monkey Locky, three rental packages are available: daily, monthly and yearly. Prices vary from 4.90 euros per day to 22.90 euros per month. The metro stations offering this service are Denfert-Rochereau (lines 4 and 6), Montparnasse-Bienvenüe (lines 4, 6, 12 and 13), Hôtel de Ville (lines 1 and 11), Étienne Marcel (line 4) and Opéra (lines 3, 7 and 8).

These key lockers are not limited to metro stations since several hundred supermarkets (Carrefour or Franprix) are also participating in the operation. It's a simplified way to share your keys securely. You will simply have to transmit the information to your contact who will be able to unlock the locker in a few seconds with a simple code.
