Loki: why season 2 will be very different from the Marvel films?

Tick toc tick tock, on October 6, season 2 of Loki will be launched on Disney+. It’s an understatement to say that this original creation is awaited by Marvel fans after a very successful debut on the streaming platform.

The promotional tour is currently in full swing, and Kevin Wright spoke to our colleagues at Entertainment Weekly. He notably explained what, in his opinion, distinguishes this original creation from the MCU feature films:

In our films, you sometimes have to move forward very quickly to move on to the next scene. Here, it's like we can literally pause and sit in every moment. And from a dramatic point of view, it's something very exciting.

An intriguing new character

Kevin Wright here puts his finger on an aspect that is, to say the least, important. Indeed, while the Loki series is focused on the notion of time, it can afford to emphasize certain details. On the contrary, Marvel films must do everything to never bore the spectators, and they chain shots at full speed.

This way of doing things is starting to get boring, even if it is not the only cause of the decline of these productions at the box office. If this subject interests you, you can also reread our analysis here.

During the same interview, the producer began to tease a new character (who will remain played by Jonathan Majors). This is Victor Timely, a genius industrialist and inventor who lived at the beginning of the 20th century:

Victor Timely is someone who excites us enormously. When you look at Kang, he has a very funny comedic story. It's had all these iterations. Timely is one of the characters we always wanted to bring into Loki. And we're very excited to see how it works in the season. It's an important part of the series.

Finally, let's remember that season 1 of Loki was a real hit for Disney+. The boss of Marvel also revealed that it is the most watched series of his studio ahead of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and even Moon Knight< /em>.

The bottom line:

  • The producer of the Loki series expressed on what differentiates it from Marvel films
  • He took the opportunity to tease a new character from season 2
  • Season 1 of this original creation was a real hit on Disney+
