The Canadian Press A 22-year-old motorist died and four other young men are in critical condition in hospital early Wednesday morning following two road accidents that occurred Tuesday in northeast Montreal. /p> A 21-year-old woman was also injured in one of the collisions, but her life is not in danger, according to the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM). Each of the two accidents included only one vehicle. Early Wednesday, the reasons for the two swerves were not yet known. The first accident occurred around 8:40 p.m. in the Rivière- des-Prairies. According to police, a loss of control occurred on Boulevard Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine northbound, near the intersection of Boulevard Maurice-Duplessis. Two young men aged 18 and 20 were pulled from the car wreck and taken to hospital in critical condition. The second incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Boulevard Lacordaire, near the intersection of Rue Arthur-Chevrier, in the x27;Montréal-Nord borough. This time, three men in their early twenties were taken to hospital in critical condition. One of #x27;they succumbed to his injuries a few hours after the accident. It was also during this collision that the 21-year-old young woman suffered injuries. Parked automobiles were hit by the car who ended his race against a tree. Safety perimeters were established at the scenes of the two accidents to allow specialist collision investigators from the SPVM to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.
