After its launch in 2022, ChatGPT quickly conquered academic circles. And today, OpenAI, the company that created this chatbot, even offers a version specially designed for universities. Called ChatGPT Edu, this version is presented as an “affordable” offer for universities.
An offer dedicated to universities
“ChatGPT can help with a variety of on-campus tasks, such as providing personalized tutoring to students and reviewing their resumes, helping researchers write grant applications, and helping faculty with grading and feedback. Our university partners have found innovative ways to make AI accessible to students, faculty, researchers and campus operations”, reads the announcement of this new offering.
OpenAI does not reveal what the prices will be for universities. But we know that ChatGPT Edu will include access to the new GPT-4o model which has just been presented, data and document analysis functionalities, the possibility of creating GPTs (modified versions of ChatGPT) and distributing these GPT on campus, and tools that allow you to administer and secure access to these tools. OpenAI also indicates that ChatGPT Edu will not use university data to train its models.
Versions for companies, for universities, and for NGOs…
In any case, OpenAI is increasing its tailor-made offers. As a reminder, since the end of 2023, it has offered a business version of ChatGPT. Another offer, called ChatGPT Team, was launched in January. And now, OpenAI also offers an offer designed for universities. In another announcement, OpenAI also presents ChatGPT for Nonprofits, which is aimed at non-profit organizations. This offer provides access to ChatGPT Team features at a reduced rate. And large organizations can take advantage of the ChatGPT Enterprise offer at a 50% discounted rate.
