Let's start with some good news: Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom is not a reboot or remake of films from the franchise we already know. The saga continues with this new opus, more than six years after the release of Planet of the Apes: Supremacy.

We are therefore more than 300 years after the death of Caesar, emblematic character of the saga Planet of the Apes . While humans have regressed into the wild, several clans of primates share a true haven of peace thanks to their former leader. However, some have completely forgotten him while others have completely distorted his teaching in order to set up an empire, led by a tyrannical leader. He does not hesitate to enslave other groups of primates in order to find human technology.

In this context, The New Kingdom is particularly interested in Noa, a young monkey forced to undertake a perilous journey that will push him to questioning what he really knows about the past and making choices that could define the future of apes and humans.

When will the new movie be released Planet of the Apes?

Originally scheduled for May 22, 2024, Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom will be released a little earlier than expected in cinemas. Indeed, this new opus will arrive on next May 8in cinemas in France.

A major cinematic saga… based on a French novel

If you like science fiction, you know that Planet of the Apes is an iconic saga. Films, television series, video games and even comics… It all starts with the novel La Planète des Singes by Pierre Boulle. Upon its publication in 1963, the novel was a commercial success. Considered a satire on humanity, science and war, Planet of the Apes was quickly translated into many languages.

In 1968, Planet of the Apes had its first adaptation in cinemas: the film was directed by Franklin J . Schaffner and won the Honorary Oscar for Best Makeup.

Should we expect a new trilogy?

Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom will not be a simple fourth part of the saga. Indeed, this new feature film is the starting point of a new era. If nothing is official, director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner) and the writers want to make New Kingdom the first chapter of a new trilogy. We imagine that everything will depend on the success of Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom.
