While the first season made Galadriel its main character, it seems that Sauron will be the protagonist to follow in this sequel. Lindsey Weber, executive producer of The Rings of Power, has also assured that this season 2 will be “more grating , more intense, perhaps a little scarier” than this launch.

Interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick McKay, one of the creators of the Rings of Power, had for his part specified:

Sauron can now just be Sauron. Like Tony Soprano or Walter White. He is wicked, but with a complex wickedness. We felt like if we did that in the first season, it would overshadow everything else. So the first season is like Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight is the next film, with Sauron maneuvering in broad daylight. We are very excited. The second season has a canonical story. Some viewers may be thinking, “This is the story we were hoping to find in the first season.” In the second season, we give it to them.

For the rest, the Amazon teams promise us great spectacle and resources as well as a faster pace, and in view of this first trailer, it seems that it is not just a question of empty promise.

What casting for season 2 ?

At this time, the distribution is not yet known in its entirety. However, we should find the same figures as for the first season, with a few additions. Here is the non-exhaustive list of forces present: Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova), Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker), Disa (Sophia Nomvete), Durin IV (Owain Arthur), Durin III (Peter Mullan), Poppy Fiercompère (Megan Richards), Marigold Brandepied (Sara Zwangobani), Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin), Halbrand (Charlie Vickers), Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi).

Finally, according to GamesRadar, three newcomers join the cast: Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones), Rory Kinnear (James Bond) and Tanya Moodie (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker). Given the first images of this trailer and the promises of the production, what do you think of this second season? Do not hesitate to share your point of view in the comments.
