Just before the end of the year, Max (HBO) has just released a first trailer for its political series The Regime starring Kate Winslet. The synopsis provided is currently quite short. This series tells “the story of a year spent within the palace walls of a modern European regime as it begins to collapse’ 8221;. Among the inspirations, we can notably cite The Crown, the last season of which has just been broadcast on Netflix. Or Veep which told, not without humor, the story of an American vice-president. We can also think of Danish fiction Borgen, even if the main character here is a dictator.

We can notice the rather squeaky atmosphere in this first trailer. Kate Winslet plays a leader who must fight against the internal turmoil of her regime, and the tone is immediately set: “When I became your chancellor, I’ I had a heavy heart”, she philosophizes against the background of distressing music.

For the rest, we can trust the creator of the series Will Tracy, who notably collaborated on the series Succession.

A five-star cast

Kate Winslet will therefore be the star of this fiction. Does it still need to be presented ? We particularly remember her performances in Titanic, Avatar, or on the series side in Mare of Eastown, where she excels in the role of a policewoman.

At his side, we will have the pleasure of meeting the Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts (The Danish Girl), and the Frenchman Guillaume Gallienne ( The Boys and Guillaume, at the table!). Finally, and this is again very heavy, the cast includes Andrea Riseborough (Amsterdam), Martha Plimpton (Younger< /em>) and Hugh Grant (Wonka, Love Actually). In short, a very solid cast that could make the difference.

When will the series be released ?

The series will be broadcast in France via Amazon Prime Video's Warner Pass. You will have to wait until March 4, 2024 to view this original creation.

For your part, what do you think of this first trailer and the information already known on this series ? Don't hesitate to share your first impressions in the comments.
