With more than 2 billion active users, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. Since its launch, the application has continued to evolve to improve the user experience, while guaranteeing their privacy. Or not.

Below, we will present to you a rather controversial tip which allows you to know the location of a WhatsApp contact without them sending you their real-time location. You're curious how it works? Here's the method.

An easy but unethical method

To discover the location of a contact via WhatsApp without asking for their consent, you will need to obtain their IP address (provided that they do not hide their IP address). This also requires a Windows computer as you will see in the tutorial below. In total, there are 6 steps to follow to get a rental estimate from your contact.

Tutorial to find the location:

  1. Prepare your environment: Close all programs on your Windows computer.
  2. Use WhatsApp Web: Log in to WhatsApp Web via browser: do not use it ;#8217;Windows application but just the website.
  3. Start the conversation: Start a chat with the person you want to follow.
  4. Command terminal:Press the Windows key (to the left of the space bar) and the R key to open Run, then type “cmd” and press Enter.
  5. Find the IP address: In the command terminal, type “netstat -an& #8221; and press Enter. A list of IP addresses connected to your computer will be displayed, including that of the person you are looking for (hence the importance of closing other applications to reduce this list).
  6. Determine the location:Go to a site like https://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup and enter the IP address. The person's approximate location will appear immediately. It will not be precise to the nearest meter but you will already have a good approximation of where it is located. Be careful, if it uses a VPN, it could cover its tracks.

It is important to remember that this method raises ethical and legal questions: obtaining the IP address of a person without their consent and using this information to determine their location is an intrusion into his private life. You must therefore be very careful when handling this data. Furthermore, the method may differ depending on the computer you have, so you must pay attention to the procedure.
