Tomb Raider (Prime Video): why this series has it all ?

It was an open secret, and it is now confirmed: Amazon Prime Video will produce a live-action series Tomb Raider. The streaming platform made the news official yesterday, the opportunity for us to give you the first known information on this project.

An epic series faithful to the saga ?

This Tuesday, Jen Salke, director of Amazon & amp; MGM Studios took advantage of Amazon's Upfront event held in New York to say more about this creation. It promises an epic “ series that will take us to the four corners of the globe. In this way, Tomb Raider would reconnect with the DNA of the franchise where we see the archaeologist surveying the planet throughout his adventures.

The evil tongues will point out that she was not going to say the opposite, but her remarks nevertheless mark a commitment, and the fans will be demanding as to the final result.

Other excellent news, it is the excellent Phoebe Waller-Bridge who is overseeing this project and who is notably in charge of writing the screenplay. She is known for Fleabag, a British series that left its mark. She also participated in the last film Indiana Jones which Tomb Raider is precisely inspired by.

Obviously, the actress did not try to hide her satisfaction from our colleagues at Deadline :

If I could tell my teenage self that this is happening, I think she would explode. Tomb Raider has been an important part of my life and I feel incredibly privileged to bring it to television with such passionate collaborators. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many others, and I can't wait to go on an adventure. Bats and everything else.

For now, Amazon has not made any additional announcements, particularly on the casting or the story. The lights are nevertheless green for this video game adaptation which, after Fallout, could once again make the heyday of the streaming service. Finally, note that the Tomb Raider saga is inspiring platforms, since an animated series project is also in production at Netflix.
