OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, wants to make its chatbot more accessible. And to do this, it announced that soon it will be possible to use ChatGPT without creating an account, which will allow people who visit its website to use the AI instantly.< /p>

The account is no longer required

“It is core to our mission to make tools like ChatGPT widely available so that people can experience the benefits of AI. More than 100 million people in 185 countries use ChatGPT every week to learn something new, find creative inspiration, and get their questions answered”, reads the announcement 'OpenAI.

On the other hand, it specifies that the deployment will be gradual, which means that you may not be able to use ChatGPT without creating an account immediately. In any case, the goal seems to accelerate the growth of this product, while the alternatives are more and more numerous.

Indeed, by allowing people to chat with ChatGPT without going through the steps of creating accounts, it is possible OpenAI hopes to attract more Internet users, who it can later convert into users of its paid version.

Functionalities reserved for registered users

Indeed, although ChatGPT becomes available without registration, the creation of an account remains essential to benefit from certain AI functionalities. For example, unregistered users cannot save chats with ChatGPT, share them or access voice chat.

Additionally, unregistered users do not have access to personalized instructions, which allow AI behavior to be tailored to the user's specific needs. On the other hand, whether the user is registered or not, they can configure ChatGPT so that OpenAI does not use their discussions to improve its models. The creator of ChatGPT also indicates that he has developed additional protections for this new connectionless experience.

Otherwise, it should be noted that currently, Gemini, which is one of ChatGPT's main competitors, requires a Google account to chat with its chatbot. On the other hand, Microsoft allows you to chat with its Copilot chatbot (based on OpenAI technologies) without creating a Microsoft account.

  • It will no longer be necessary to create an account to chat with the chatbot
  • But some features will not be available to unregistered users
  • Currently, Gemini requires an account to chat with its chatbot, but Microsoft already allows users without a Microsoft account to chat with its Copilot AI (based on OpenAI technologies)
