Why are Peugeot 208s recalled by the car manufacturer

If you have a Peugeot 208, you may be affected by the current recall of certain models of the vehicle. This Friday, March 29, 2024, the public consumer information platform on product recalls, RappelConso, sounded the alarm.

For the past week, owners of a Peugeot 208 have been invited to contact their dealer. Indeed, certain vehicles could endanger motorists because of a welding problem.

The rear axle in question

When we know that the 208 is an essential model from Peugeot, this recall is cause for concern. On the Rappel Conso website, we can read that this recall is linked to a problem with the rear axle of the vehicle.

“ The rear axle may not be properly welded, which could cause cracks to form over time. As a result, the rear axle could break and result in reduced maneuverability, thereby increasing the risk and accident”is it written on the RappelConso website to justify the recall of certain Peugeot 208s. The danger is therefore indeed present for motorists. This welding problem could cause accidents and indirectly injure drivers and their passengers.

If you ride on board of a Peugeot 208, you may be concerned. Simply check your vehicle reference. The Peugeot 208s affected by this recall can be identified with the following references: 18.1.2023 – 14.3.2023 on the European Rapex and U system, e2*2007/46*0639*21-*23. If in doubt, contact the dealer who sold you the vehicle.

Recently, the car manufacturer Renault also had to recall several vehicles as well. The Renault Zoé and the Megane IV Sedan are affected. On the one hand, there is a risk of a short circuit in the high-voltage battery, while on the other hand, this is linked to a bodywork component (deflector) which potentially would not have been correctly fixed.< /p>

In addition to being a costly process, a recall campaign is always a hard blow for manufacturers. These manufacturing problems seriously damage the reputation of manufacturers and their brand image.
