According to a study by Counterpoint, the inhabitants of France have a definite penchant for the most premium smartphones. In July 2023, the five best-selling smartphones in France were high-end models. It's not really surprising: the iPhone 14 is in the lead.

Thus, the iPhone 14 has established itself as the darling of the French this summer. The standard model of Apple's 2022 vintage represented 16% of sales in July 2023 in our territory. Samsung did what it could with 9% of sales for its Galaxy S23. The rest of the ranking moves up further with the iPhone 14 Pro (8%), the iPhone 14 Pro Max (5%) and the Samsung Galaxy S23+ (5%).
If France loves premium smartphones, it is not the only country in Europe that has favored these expensive models. Indeed, Germany does not deprive itself either. We therefore find the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14, the Samsung Galaxy S23, the iPhone 14 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra among the best sellers of July 2023 in the country.
In the other countries scrutinized by Counterpoint, more affordable models are slipping in. This is the case in South Korea, with the Samsung Galaxy A34 and Galaxy A24. Same story in the United Kingdom and the United States with the Galaxy A14 5G. As for the Japanese, they gave Google smartphones a chance. Last July, the Google Pixel 7a and Pixel 6a represented the 4th and 5th best-selling smartphones in the country.
While Countpoint is interested in eight countries to carry out this study, we see that Apple and Samsung have control over five of them. It is only in China, India and Japan that other brands manage to stand out. Like Google in the Japanese archipelago, Oppo and Vivo in China and Realme, Vivo and OnePlus in India.
While the Cupertino company has just presented its new iPhone 15, we imagine that consumers will rush at them. Especially since, to everyone's surprise, prices have not increased. On the contrary! For the standard model, it costs 969 euros while the iPhone 14 was marketed at 1019 euros last year.
