Freebox Ultra: relive the launch of the new box in replay

© Free

Six years after the Freebox Delta, Free has just launched its highly anticipated Freebox Ultra. Few French brands can boast of generating so much hype around a product release. In telecommunications, the Free case is unique.

It must be said that the truculent Xavier Niel knows how to handle shock phrases and announcement effects. There is therefore no doubt that his pitch is prepared down to the comma. This Tuesday, January 30, 2024, he took the stage to unveil the Freebox Ultra, an internet box which should once again shake up market codes.

Freebox Ultra: what could we expect?

Before the presentation the information on the new Freebox Ultra had remained secret (this is quite rare to emphasize). Some indiscreet ears had still managed to obtain some clues about the technical advances of this box with “an air never seen before”.

Thus, we expected the Freebox Ultra to adopt all the high standards entertainment range, namely Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos compatibility as well as WiFi 7 connectivity. The Freebox Ultra is therefore positioned as the most premium model of the Free boxes. It succeeds the Delta which never really managed to convince, the fault in particular of numerous bugs marring the daily experience.

It could be that the arrival of the Freebox Ultra will force Free to review its range of boxes, with the probable disappearance of the legendary Freebox Revolution. The range then consists of the Freebox Pop, the Freebox Delta S, the Freebox Delta and the Freebox Ultra.
