House of the Dragon: 3 questions about season 2 of the series

©HBO

For the end of the year 2023, HBO wanted to remember our good memories by revealing a first trailer for season 2 of House of the Dragon during the Comic Con conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The time is therefore perfect to return to certain determining elements of this sequel to the spin-off of Game of Thrones. (Warning, the rest of this article contains spoilers from season 1).

What can we expect next??

We can anticipate a very violent start to season 2 given the end of season 1. We have indeed witnessed the death of Lucerys, the son of Rhaenyra and Daemon. The couple will be keen to take revenge. According to the book, these will call on two characters, Blood and Cheese, who will be responsible for sneaking into the Red Keep and killing one of Aegon's sons. We can therefore immediately expect to see blood flow.

This is also what this first trailer suggests where Otto Hightower admits that “mistakes were made in the hours following the death of King Viserys&amp ;#8221;. Alicent affirms for his part: “The war will be fought. Many will die. And the winner will eventually ascend the throne”.

Very clearly, the protagonists do not intend to joke. For the rest, the images show us an ultra-anxious Westeros populated by dragons, troops ready to do battle, and, as if that were not enough, we observe a decapitation. Rhaenys even warns Rhaenyra: “There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin. And no war is as bloody as a war between dragons…. Will she heed his advice ? We very much doubt it.

When will season 2 be released ?

HBO has not provided an exact release date for this sequel to House of the Dragon but we know that the eight episodes should be broadcast during the summer of 2024, which is not without raising a certain number of questions.

Where will the series be broadcast in France?

For the moment, HBO and Max programs are broadcast by Amazon Prime Video in France as part of the Warner Pass. But things will soon change, since we know that the Max platform plans to set up in France during the summer of 2024. A deadline which therefore coincides perfectly with the start of season 2 of House of the Dragon. What if the entertainment giant took advantage of this deadline for a grand launch of its streaming service in France ?
