Lawyers for Nathaniel Veltman, accused of the attack on a Muslim family in London, Ontario, announced Monday that they will not present any further witnesses. The man faces four counts of premeditated murder in circumstances of terrorism and one charge of attempted murder.

Psychiatrist Julian Gojer completed his testimony in the afternoon by answering the Crown's final questions. Most of them again focused on the different psychiatric and psychological evaluations undergone by the accused and on certain contradictions between them.

For example, the forensic psychiatrist testified on the witness stand that the defendant likely suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder while an evaluation The hospital concluded that he did not meet the criteria for such a diagnosis.

In just over eight weeks of trial in Superior Court in Windsor, the Crown presented its evidence and called 19 people to testify. Only the accused and the psychiatrist were called to testify by the defense.

Judge Renee Pomerance told jurors that she and the attorneys now have a lot of work to do before proceeding to the final stages of the trial. p>

The magistrate explained that legal discussions must take place. However, the content of these conversations, which will take place in the coming days, will be subject to a publication ban until the jury is sequestered to reach a verdict in this case.

As one member of the jury has already been excused due to a health issue, one of the remaining 13 jurors will need to be dismissed before deliberations begin. p>

The judge has already told the jurors that they will be back on Friday at the earliest, but that the discussions could last longer.
