Murder of a mother in Saint-Basile-le-Grand

A 51-year-old mother was killed Sunday evening in an armed attack in a single-family residence in Saint-Basile-le-Grand.

Police officers from the Régie intermunicipale Richelieu-Saint-Laurent received a call on Sunday around 11:35 p.m. to intervene in a violent altercation between a man and a woman in a residence on rue Ménard, between rue des Patriotes and rue Principale.

At the scene, police had to immediately rescue a 51-year-old woman who was seriously injured in the neck and face. The officers performed resuscitation maneuvers, but to no avail.

The death of the lady was confirmed a little later at the hospital.

A teenager and a young adult, who are the victim's children, were in the residence at the time of the events.

Officers arrested a 53-year-old man at the crime scene. It would be his spouse.

What we can say for the moment is that these are people who have been seeing each other for some time who seem to have been living together for several months in Saint-Basile-le-Grand, explained agent Jean-Luc Tremblay of the Régie intermunicipale de police Richelieu-Saint-Laurent.< /p>

Investigators and forensic experts are at the crime scene. The investigation remains in the hands of the Régie intermunicipale Richelieu-Saint-Laurent until further notice.

As for the suspect, he must appear before the judge during the day. He is expected to face murder charges.
