TF1, BeIN, Prime Video: who will win the rights to Ligue 1 ?

Time is passing, and no agreement has yet been reached concerning the broadcasting rights for Ligue 1 matches for the period 2024-2029. We can therefore wonder who will collect the different prizes offered by the LFP, and where football fans will be able to follow the matches ? A quick overview.

DAZN, the newcomer

If we are to believe the information from RMC Sport, DAZN is to date the only actor to have filed a formal offer. The British platform offers 500 million euros per year to obtain all the matches of each day. An option which does not please the LFP which would like to obtain the same remuneration, but for fewer matches. With this in mind, a second actor would recover part of the meetings.

BeIN Sports returns ?

Also according to our colleagues, the League is trying to convince BeIN to be DAZN's partner as part of these new TV rights. Emmanuel Macron's intervention on this issue was mentioned by several media, but it is denied by those close to the president. If this prospect materializes, the Qatari network could recover one match exclusively and two others in broadcast.

This file is extremely complicated, because a third actor comes into play: Canal+. The group is in fact the exclusive distributor of BeIN in France for 250 million euros per year. The latter could demand a re-evaluation of this contract if it regained part of Ligue 1. A prospect which would hardly enchant the French company.

What about Prime Video and TF1 ?

Amazon Prime Video currently broadcasts a large part of Ligue 1 via its dedicated Pass. The streaming service is reportedly waiting today to find out who will be the main broadcaster. His idea would then be to negotiate in order to obtain one match per day against 80 to 100 million euros per year, specifies RMC Sport.

After losing the broadcast rights for the 2026 World Cup to M6, TF1 seems determined to relaunch. The first channel would thus have entered into discussions with the League to recover lot 4. This concerns the rights to the Sunday morning magazine. We imagine that the Téléfoot program would be the lucky beneficiary and could thus show long match summaries to viewers.

What to remember:

  • DAZN is currently the only concrete offer received by the LFP
  • BeIN Sports could recover several meetings, including one exclusively
  • Other players such as Prime Video and TF1 are in ambush
