After a very mastered season 1, it is an understatement to say that the sequel to The Last of Us is eagerly awaited by spectators. Despite a delay due to the writers' and actors' strike, season 2 is nevertheless expected for 2025. In the meantime, Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel on screen, spoke about what awaited his character. (Spoiler alert: the rest of the article includes revelations about the history of the video game)

Quoted by Deadline, the new darling of Hollywood was notably questioned to know if Joel's fate will be different from that of the games. Remember that the latter is murdered quite quickly, which places Ellie in a rage and pushes her to take revenge.

The actor began by saying that he did not know the exact plans of screenwriters Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. He continues:

I think they will always find ways to build on the incredible source material they have and surprise us with it how they can use this material in a different format, like a TV series. But I wouldn't want to spoil this for anyone, and the truth is I don't have all the information yet.

Revelations from the screenwriters

We will therefore not know more at this time. For their part, the creators of the series were a little more talkative last year regarding this sequel. Thus, Neil Druckmann explained that this second season will differ from the game: “It will be different, just like this season was. Sometimes it will be radically different, and sometimes it will be the same. » Craig Mazin confirmed: « It will not be exactly like the game. This will be the series that Neil and I want to make».

The creator of Chernobyl has also promised: « It's entirely possible that there will be many more infected later. And maybe other species. » This is a reference to the new types of unsavory infected that players had to face in the second game .
