Accused of sexual assault, Luck Mervil pleads not guilty

Singer and host Luck Mervil pleaded not guilty Monday morning at the Rimouski courthouse regarding a sexual assault charge.

The accused was not present during the appearance. He was represented by Me Anne-Marie Drouin, who was by videoconference.

Me Drouin indicated to Judge Andrée St-Pierre that his client will opt for a trial before a judge of the Court of Quebec. The case will return to court on April 22 at the Rimouski courthouse.

Luck Mervil is accused of&#x27 ;having sexually assaulted a person in June 2000 in Rimouski. The actions with which he is accused allegedly occurred on the night of June 23 to 24, 2000.

An order of no -publication is in force in order not to reveal the identity of the alleged victim.

Luck Mervil is not his first run-in with the law. In May 2018, he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation for actions committed in 1996. He was 28 years old at the time and in a position of authority over the aged victim. 17 years old.

He served a six month sentence in the community. Luck Mervil was then placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 20 years.
