In April 2023, HBO confirmed the launch of a very first Harry Potter series. Remember that the Harry Potter literary saga has a total of 7 works, published between 1997 and 2007, and that it was the origin of a vast cinematographic adaptation, spread over ten years (2001-2011). Collectively, Harry Potter's theatrical adventures have grossed more than $7.5 billion.

At the beginning of last year, video game fans discovered a certain Hogwarts Legacy, from the Harry Potter universe. Quickly, some called for a boycott of the game, the “fault” to J.K. Rowling, the author of Harry Potter, and to certain positions. As a result, Hogwarts Legacy was a colossal success, appearing among the 5 best-selling video games in 2023.
Thus, the Harry Potter series by Discovery could well make a big splash when it is released, and slowly but surely, the project continues to move forward. The best ideas will then be discussed in the United Kingdom, potentially in front of the famous author of the Harry Potter saga.
Remember that this new Max Original series will dive “into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years.” When announcing the project, HBO notably indicated its intention to make the seven novels into a series that could span no less than ten years.

The series will obviously have a whole new cast, with the key actors of the films, such as Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson not being (for the moment in any case) part of the project. Still, we'll have to be patient (allow a few years) before discovering the first episodes of this first Harry Potter series.
Like The Walking Dead, the upcoming Harry Potter series could also give rise to spin-offs, even if for the time being, the latter does not have a ;#8217;no assigned screenwriter, no actor, no director…
